“That was regrettable. That was essentially an interaction with Cowboys supporters seated near me,” Jones stated during a radio appearance. “There was a swarm of Cowboys fans—not New York fans, our fans. The whole venue was filled with excitement for the Dallas team.”
Jones additionally emphasized that the gesture was completely unintentional, happening amid the elation following the team’s final touchdown. “I just put up the incorrect digit,” he noted. “The action was accidentally performed. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it unplanned, you can. But it got corrected pretty quick.”
