Former Physician Accused of Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities report that a former doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

The Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

These allegations come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Charges

Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.

Police have asked anyone with concerns to contact the investigating team.
