Paceman Atkinson Adds to England's Fitness Worries.
'Serious blow' for England after Atkinson is forced off due to a hamstring issue.
The English seamer increased the fitness woes of the England squad when he left the field on the second morning in the Melbourne Test in the Ashes series.
Atkinson felt a problem in his hamstring after the final ball of the fourth over on Saturday.
The England team indicated Atkinson reported "discomfort" and required time off the field in order to be assessed "in the coming hours".
The concluding match in this Ashes battle at the SCG starts at the end of the week.
The English side has already lost key quicks Mark Wood to a knee injury and another paceman with an abdominal strain on the current trip.
A replacement bowler was brought into the squad as cover for Wood.
His form was underwhelming early in the series, managing only a handful of scalps.
He was left out from the previous Test, then recalled for the fourth Test as Archer's replacement.
The county bowler showed better form in Melbourne, claiming a couple of wickets with the ball, before adding 28 as a batsman as one of just three English batsmen to get into double digits.
Following a brief spell in Australia's second innings, he came back the next day and had nightwatchman edging to the keeper.
Unfortunately, at the end of that over, he bowled a slower ball to Travis Head and immediately felt his left hamstring.
Gus Atkinson was brought back for the fourth Ashes Test having missed of the third.
