Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film was released, establishing the animation giant as a leading animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang

The preview shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is still the key figure among the toys.
